About me:

In my early 40s and graduated from Curtin University Of Technology (Australia) with a degree in Commerce. Prior to my University education, I graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic with a diploma in Business Studies. Previously a HR Manager for an International UK MNC before going into the teaching/education industry. No regrets.

I provide long-term committed private home coaching from primary 1-6 (English/Maths/Science/Chinese) and secondary 1-2(English/Maths/Science). I have numerous years of teaching experience with exceptional proven-track record & testimonials from both parents & students. I am patient, caring and responsible but at the same time, can be strict and firm with students. I consider myself a result-oriented and high achiever teacher. I am genuine to help students to improve and do well. I will train students to have a thinking mind (I do not believe in spoon-feeding), to be independent and possess correct attitudes (Correct attitudes are deemed necessary to excel academically). I am able to mingle well with students. A counsellor and advisor to most students too. I am familiar with MOE system and syllabus. My teaching methods are catered to different level of students and individual requirements.

I have experience with ADD, ADHD and Dyslexia students. In recent years, there's a growing number of students with such learning disabilities in addition to behavioural & anger management issue. In most cases, these students were not "spotted" in school. And usually this group of students are not doing well in school. They need special and patient guidance to help them overcome it. I have successful cases with helping this group of students.

Students showing improvement in their studies and passing examinations with flying colours are my biggest accomplishment and pride in all these years of teaching. Teaching is my passion and helping my students to do well is my responsibility and challenge. I take pride in my teaching and coaching. Private teaching is my career and most importantly, my Life!

Congrats to this P6 boy of mine for passing his PSLE Maths finally. Prior to my coaching, he merely achieved below 20 marks for his SA1. It was a huge concern for his parents. He personally requested his mom to contact me to come back again to teach him. (I taught him from P2-P4 previously) I came back and helped him to improve his Maths result for his Prelim. He achieved 40s marks. Almost 30 marks improvement! He then went on to pass his PSLE Maths. A lot of patience, motivation and encouragement required in the process of coaching him but i was glad i was there for him and able to help him. Many would have long given up hope in coaching him. Appreciation and thankful to his parents too for their understanding, support, confidence and trust in me in dealing with the boy's characters and my ability to help him.

I must admit it has not been an easy task to coach this boy despite the fact that he is smart. He is hyper and overly engrossed to games and TV which have a negative impact on his attention span and focus in his studies. It requires a lot of "talking", "correcting", motivating, patience and flexibility in handling him. I am glad that all the hard work has paid off and his results are the best gift to me. I am truly proud of his achievements. Always thankful to his mom and grandma who have been very supportive, appreciative and importantly, trust in my experience and expertise, which all contributed to my fruitful coaching in the child.

My Success Story.......

This is one of my proud achievements in many years of coaching and teaching.

I have been teaching PY since he was in primary 4. He was diagnosed with dyslexic and ADD by the school then. Due to his learning disability, he has never been good with his studies. His PSLE results weren't great, achieving only 152 which merely qualify him for the NA course in his current Secondary school. Despite the disappointment, he did not give up.

His secondary education was a turning point in life for him. A remarkable improvement in his attitude towards his studies and in his determination to achieve better grades. His grades improved from below average to As! Last year (2011), he was awarded The Edusave Award. This year (2012), his SA1 results were impressive! Achieving As for his E.Maths 91(A1), A.Maths 70 (A2), Physic 88 (A1) and Chemistry 88 (A1). His achievement today is my greatest pride and joy, beyond words can express. Coaching him has never been easy but the patience, constant motivation, having a good relationship, understanding his problems have paid-off. We, both, were rewarded with great results.

Happy Teacher's Day!! It was time for our next outing. To celebrate this special occasion and also, the commencing of Term 3 break, I decided to bring a group of my students, 9 of them, to Clementi Woods Park for International buffet at Sakura Restaurant. For those who were missed out in this outing, terribly sorry about it but will try to accomodate all next time.

The buffet was good. Lots of varieties of food to choose from. Obviously, the hot favourite was the warm, melthing chocolate.....

After indulging in good food, we headed straight for our next destination, Vivo City. Personally, it was my first trip there but a good one. Our first stop was none other than The Timezone!! Had so much fun there including myself, surprisingly. We spent couple of hours gaming, basketball, riding and etc. We shopped around for awhile and then, it was time to say goodbye, reluctantly. It was indeed, another spectacular outing and many more to come as I promised my students and only if they do well and obtain good results.
